“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

John 14

As humans, and even as followers of Christ, it is extremely easy for us to feel alone. We feel as though no one understands our frustrations, our hurts, our pains and aches—especially when our relationship with Christ grows deeper and deeper. We can even sometimes feel like God calls us to a specific place, but then leaves us right when the going gets tough—and then feel even more alone.

But the truth is, we are never alone. God is always with us, and His presence is even promised to us, like we read in John 14. Jesus might not be physically with us, but His Spirit—the Holy Spirit is always with us, leading us and guiding us. As we get older with age and come to more understanding about the world and how the people around us will fail us, we can take comfort in knowing that the Lord will always be by our side. This can even empower us to do His work and will, even when it seems bold, daring, and hard!

It is so important to know that in the midst of learning and understanding your identity in Christ, Christ will never leave you nor forsake you. He loves you, He knows you, and nothing you could ever do will make Him ever want to leave you. Nothing could ever separate you from the Father’s love. His Word and His promises are true and trustworthy. We can find safety and peace in His covenant and promises, because He will never break them. Our life and existence is proof that God is constantly thinking about us, and walking with us! As long as we are seeking the Lord and focusing on Him, we can never doubt His truth.

Questions to think about:

  1. What are practical ways you can remind yourself that God is always with you?
  2. How can you create opportunity to spend more time with the Lord throughout the week?
