Philip and the Ethiopian | I can choose the door of sharing Jesus

So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus.” – Acts 8:35

Acts 8:26-40

We often wonder what plans God has for our future – where we will live, what job we will have, what friends we will make. What has God created us to do? Who has He created us to be? These are huge questions that are definitely worth asking, but at the end of the day, all of God’s plans for our lives revolve around His desire for us to share Him with others. He will give us opportunities, lay plans and nudge us in directions that allow us to show love to others and share the Good News with them, but it is up to us to listen to His call and take action.

Philip heard the Holy Spirit speak to him in this passage. He met the treasurer of Ethiopia, the eunuch, on a desert road, and the Lord instructed Philip to go over and walk beside the eunuch’s carriage. So he did. When he walked over, he saw that the man was reading scripture but did not understand what he was reading. Philip used this opportunity to share the Good News with the eunuch and even went on to baptize him just moments later.

God planned for this to happen. He made sure Paul and the eunuch were in the same place at the same time so Philip could seize an opportunity to share the Gospel with this man and lead him to Christ. Part of God’s plan for Philip’s life was this moment where he could choose to listen to God and share Him with someone or carry on with his own plan, ignore God and continue walking. He listened when God told him to “go” and chose to act on an opportunity rather than ignore it.

QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:

  1. Is there someone who God has nudged you to invite to church or share the Gospel with?
  2. What stops you from choosing to share your faith?
  3. What are some qualities or gifts God has equipped you with that will help you show His love to others?
