I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness because you will have the light that leads to life.

John 9:1-12

Jesus Heals the Man Who Was Born Blind

Throughout the Bible, Jesus often compared himself to simple, everyday things to help us understand who He is and the incredible things He can do for us. In John 9, Jesus and His disciples walked past a man who was born blind. The disciples asked Jesus if the man was born blind because of his own sins. Jesus responded by saying “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him… the night is coming and then no one can work. But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.” Jesus then performed one of His many amazing miracles by healing the man of his blindness so he was now able to see.

The man who was born blind lived in complete darkness without the power of Christ, but with Jesus’ power, he was then able to see light. Our Lord performs miracles in order to meet human needs, but He also uses them as a means to show who He says He is. We must remember that Jesus is the light of the world. Without Him we would walk in complete darkness.

JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
