God Gives Us The Armor Of God So We Can Be Protected From The Enemy

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)

Ephesians 6:10-13

In so many ways, the Armor of God can relate to your favorite superhero movie. It acts like a force field, protecting us and providing us with weapons to fight evil and defend ourselves. Sounds familiar, right? But the evil we are fighting against is more than a villainous monster. Satan is unseen, mighty and constantly at work against Christ-followers.

The good news is that God is more powerful than any evil and we can fight Satan off by putting on every piece of God’s armor: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit. When we don our armor, we become equipped by God with the weapons and strength needed to keep Satan far from us. He will not be able to deceive us into doing bad things and we will be free to chase after the abundant life God has planned for us.

As we learn more about what each piece of armor means and how we can use it in our lives, remember the power and might of God. He is the most powerful force in this world and it is through Him alone that the enemy can be defeated. Spend some time thanking God for His power and the tools He has given you to fight with Him against Satan.

Questions to think about:

  1. Is there a time you felt Satan trying to tempt you toward sin?
  2. How did you resist this temptation and choose good instead of evil?
  3. What role did the power of God play in your ability to resist Satan?
