Jesus healed the ten men who had leprosy. One man from the group returned to Jesus after to thank Him and show his gratitude.
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.
– Psalm 136:26
The Ten Lepers
While Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem, ten men with leprosy approached him. They called out to Jesus and asked Him to have mercy on them. Jesus then told them to go show themselves to the priests. As they left to follow Jesus’ instructions, the men were healed. One man from the group went back to Jesus and said “Praise God!” He thanked Jesus for healing him so he could express how appreciative he was for the miracle Jesus had just performed. Jesus responded by asking “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” Jesus then told the man to “stand up and go…your faith has healed you.”
The thankful leper shows us how important it is to have an attitude full of gratitude. The healed man who thanked Jesus could have continued to walk with the other nine men. Instead, he intentionally chose to turn around so he could go thank Jesus and praise God for the miracle He had just performed. Thankful people focus less on what they do not have and more on the many things they do have. Jesus taught us that we need to speak out our gratitude. We should give God praise and thank Him for all of His incredible promises and the many blessings He gave .
